Bideford Gains more Silverware

Bideford Gains more Silverware

Over the weekend the Band travelled to Torquay for the South West Brass Band Association’s ‘open competition’. The Band entered both the 4th Section and the 3rd Section, playing Philip Sparke’s Music for a Festival.

We are pleased to report that the Band gained three new trophies to add to our collection.

The band gained first place in the 4th Section as well as winning a trophy for the best set of Basses.

The Band also gained third place in the 3rd Section.

It was great to see so many Bands enter this popular ‘own choice’ competition. We were proud to represent our town of Bideford and the North Devon area. We fought off a very high standard of Bands from all over Devon & Cornwall.

All in all the Band has had a great competition year gaining two first places, one second and one third place, as well as a prize for the best set of Basses.

Nationally the Band now moved up a Section [league] to the Third Section after its recent success at the National Brass Band Competitions in Cheltenham.

We are so grateful to our Conductor Mark Durham for his leadership, to all our players and members for their commitment, effort and time practising, to our sponsors and of course, to our supporters & helpers.
